Introducing Your Child to the Dentist
You can help get your child started on the right foot by bringing him or her in to their dental appointment early in their life, before they actually need any treatment. By age two or three, they should have all of their baby teeth. That would be a good time to begin. We will count their teeth, make sure everything is in order, and give them a cleaning.
Parents sometimes make the mistake of telegraphing their dental anxieties to their children by over-preparing them for this visit. Doing that sends a signal to the child that this is something to worry about. The best way to help them prepare for this visit is by treating it as no big deal.
Some parents will bring their child with them to one of their own dental appointments. Seeing your enjoy your visit helps them eagerly anticipate their own.

Fluoride treatments given to recently erupted teeth helps them incorporate a layer of fluoride-rich enamel on the surface, giving them a life-long resistance to decay.
Sealants applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth fill the pits and fissures of those teeth with a preventive barrier. These are the parts of the tooth that are most susceptible to decay.
